What is the black speck on the two new leaves of my Croton plant?

by Charlotte
(Canada)

Question: I bought a Croton plant last year sometime and it's growing really good, but the problem is that I just noticed there's a little tiny black speck on the two new leaves on my Croton. It almost looks like it could be a tiny no see em, but I'm not quite sure. Does anyone know what it is or what it could be?

Answer to croton plant leaf disease:

Without a clear photo of the black spots on the leaves, its is difficult to give a accurate answer. However, here is a suggestion. Take a photo or remove one of the affected leaves and take to a gardening center for diagnosis. Or you may want to check out The Complete Illustrated Handbook of Garden Pests and Diseases and How to Get Rid of Them:
