Watering Desert Roses

I have some desert roses, but I read about over watering a little late.I have plenty of sun in my back yard and have pulled them out of the soil that was to wet,but I think that root rot on the bigger one is setting in.Is there anything I can do to either stop this or slow it down or is it to late? Help they were gifts.
