Unknown Plant

by Flossie Brumitte
(Lafollette, Tennessee USA)

I have a plant I have had for several years. I would love to know the name of it. It can grow to over two feet tall, has long green stems about the size of a pencil. It has a lot of long leathery green leaves that the flowers blooms from off the sides of the 10 inches leaves; once a year about September 25th. The flowers looks sorta like a cow's tail, before opening into a large white trumpet shape flowers with feathery centers. It only blooms around midnight and close up before daylight; the smell is so wonderful, filling the whole yard. It cannot survive cold winters; has to be taken inside. It is not the angel trumpet plant or the moon vine. I had never seen a plant that produced flowers from the leaves before. Can you tell me what this plant might be? would love a answer to this question. Thank you
