trying to identify a plant

by alpha papa
(st pete fla)

It looks like sea grape..well the leaves do anyway.... it is a tree actually and the flowers are similar to a hibiscus but this one had deep maroon petals with a black center and a stamen like a hibiscus.. no clue to what it is but the flowers are beautiful.. any idea.. and we live in st Petersburg florida.. so it must be a tropical of some kind. thanks

Answer: Without a picture I could only guess. If you can submit a photo that would help in the identification.
