This Plant will not die! How do I kill it?

by Mel Tyler
(Indiana)

I bought what looked like a pretty little plant. It has taken over my flower bed. It has the following identifiers:

1. It smells when you get it on your hands. Even through you wash them it has a bad oder.

2. It is green in the summer but more red in the spring.

3. It has small flowers that look like strawberry plant flowers.

4. The root system is unbelievable. It goes very deep. The plants go between landscaping timbers.

I have tried round up, boiling water and all kinds of stuff to kill it.

Any ideas?

Even though the root system is deep and extensive, up rooting it is a reliable way of killing any plant. You may also try covering it with something that will block out the suns rays and rain. A dark covered tarp from a will do the trick.

Best of Luck.

Steve
