strange looking pest on my Orange Jasmine

by Anne Pipps
(Akron, Ohio)

I have an indoor potted orange jasmine plant. It is growing nicely, but I noticed small (1/4") grayish raised bumps on the stems. They can be removed easily, but once removed, a gelatinous substance is evident. What is it, should I be concerned and what should I do to get rid of it?

Answer: Do you have a picture you can share to help identify the insect? As far getting rid of the garden pest; I'd remove one and bring it to your local gardening shop for identification and treatment options.
