The plant growth process is how the plant grows.

PLANT GROWTH FACTOR HOME What exactly do you think this means? The plant growth process is how the plant grows. The leaves sprout on the plant, the stem grows, branches appear and the plant readies itself for producing. If it is a flowering plant, the process is for producing flowers. If it is a vegetable, the process is for the production of vegetables. Either way, the basics are the same. When you start a plant with a seed, the plant growth process begins. The root system begins from the first sprouting of the seed. Once established the plant begins the growing process. The main stalk will push up through the earth and the leaves will begin to form. The energy that plants use to grow is from the sun. This is known as... Photosynthesis The plant's leaf has green pigment which absorbs the energy needed to grow from the sun. By using this energy, carbon dioxide from the air and water the plant creates oxygen. Another product it creates is simple sugars. In order to have energy reserves it can call on when needed a plant uses the simple sugars to make complex sugars as well as starches. The complex sugars are also used to make cellulose, hemicellulose or mixed with nitrogen to make protein.
Cellulose is the main element of cell walls of plants. It is used by manufacturers to make plastics, explosives and lacquers. The energy that plants make and use will depend upon the stage the plant is in at the time. If it is developing new leaves, the energy comes from the reserve sugars and starches. As the reserve is used, the need for more energy increases. So the whole plant growth process starts again and as the new leaves develop the plant uses more sunlight and increases the photosynthesis process. The excess is once again stored. As more leaves grow the leaves start to cover each other and the ones that are not getting enough sunlight will die. Harvesting Depending upon the type of plant, harvesting will make the plant produce more. The yield or amount that you get from the harvest will depend on the previous harvest. If too much is left the next growth will be less. If this is the first harvest, the more you take now the better the plant will produce later. When the weather is cooler for instance, in the spring, the plant growth process will be reduced. This will allow the plant to reserve the sugars and starches it needs for growing. In the fall this process helps the plant to develop a better root system. The top may not be growing much but the roots are establishing themselves and developing reserves for later growth. The maximum amount is received from the plant if it is harvested at the height of the growing cycle when energy reserves are at their highest. By understanding a few of the processes that plants use for the growing process, you can reap the maximum amount of harvest. All it takes is a little knowledge of the particular plant or plants you are growing. Want to stay up on the changes made to this site? Visit our Blog and sing-up to the RSS FEED
