Find A Good Pineapple The first step is to pick up a healthy pineapple fruit from your local grocery store. The fruits skin should be golden-brown (not too green) and its leaves should be green with (little or no yellow or brown). Inspect the fruit for soft or damaged areas on the skin and leaves of the fruit. Choosing a healthy fruit is an important step that will improve the odds of the crown rooting.
Prepping the pineapple crown for rooting. With one hand holding the pineapple and the other grasping the entire set of leaves, twist the top until it separates from the main potion of the fruit. Remove any excess fruit flesh otherwise it will rot and harm the whole plant. Then what you want do is slice horizontal sections from the bottom of the pineapple crown until you see circles or small dots. After sixty days or so, the plant should be able to support itself with its new growth. It will take between 20 to 24 months for the plant to develop a new fruit.
