Nancy C

Will Wooly Thyme (Thymus pseudolanuginosus) grow as a ground cover in the Scottsdale, AZ area? If not, why not?

Hello Nancy C.

Yes, it can be successfully grown in Scottsdale, AZ.

It has a short grow height of 2-5" and grows out 10-14", making it a great ground cover. It is drought tolerant and prefers direct sun to partial sunlight.

As with any plant, many growth factors play a role in healthy plant development. Sunlight, soil condition, too little or too much water, insects, fertilizer etc.

If your finding difficulties grow the plant in the ground, prepare a new area to move it to,till the area with good soil and compost mix and start fresh. Or try starting it in a container and later transplant it into the ground using the same soil mixture.

I hope this helps.

Take care
