Today is April 23, 2009 and the flowers on my one night jasmine plant are ready to open. This plant of mine is about 12 feet tall and about 5 foot wide. Right now the plant is recovering for insect damage so I don't have many flowers. However, when all is well with this night blooming jasmine it produces thousands of sweetly scented flowers that fill the evening air with the most heavenly fragrance on earth. The scent is so powerful you can smell it from several houses away. The amazing thing about my night jasmine is that I give it very little attention or special care. The plant is grown in sandy soil with a PH level of 5.5. The only fertilizer I ever give it is coffee grounds, a occasional banana peel and a little water. I frequently take stem cuttings and have great success getting them to root. The night blooming jasmine is definitely one of my top five favorite plants.
