6 Types of Lawn Sprinkler Systems which One is Best for you?

Watering is crucial step in lawn care. Lawn sprinkler systems are designed to ensure that the turfs have their own healthy dose of water.

Today, lawns can take advantage of six types: rotary, stationary, pulsating, oscillating, in-ground, and traveling.

Rotary

Also known as revolving, the rotary lawn sprinkler spray water from its tip with two or three spinning arms. When they are switched on, the rotary sprinklers sprays down the water really quick. So they are not ideal for sandy or sloped lawns. Instead, they are best for smaller lawns.

Stationary

Also ideal for small lawns, the stationary lawn sprinklers have a wide range of designs in terms of spraying the water. Mostly, nevertheless, spray the water through patterns of holes in the top of the spray head.

Relative to the water pressure, size, shape, and the pattern of the holes of the stationary sprinkler, the portion of area it covers may be shallow or broad, far or near.

Also, stationary systems have low water pressure, but do not cover far area. They are inexpensive too.

Pulsating

Another term for pulsating is impulse sprinklers.

They are considered to be efficient for large turf areas. They have one water jet which, lies close to the ground, are long lasting, and sprays water evenly throughout large lawn areas.

When a pulsating sprinkler sprays water, it does so near the ground, making them resistant to strong winds.

Models that are high end are flexible allowing the users to make adjustments to the height of the water released by selecting the spray pattern and the coverage area.

Then, the spray can be set from full jet stream to a fine mist spray so newly seeded lawns and sod can benefit.

Oscillating

Among the most common lawn sprinkler systems are the oscillating. When they work, the water forms a fan. An oscillating sprinkler made of metal arm oscillates back and forth ensuring the coverage of a rectangular lawn.

Some models allow adjustment on the area of water distribution, making them suitable for large lawns. They can also spray like a mist for the benefit of the newly seeded lawns.

In-ground

A common term for in-ground sprinkler is lawn irrigation system, which is best used for large areas of grass, or in areas where the grasses cannot thrive without the ration of water.

And for these, in-ground sprinklers are expensive and difficult to install. Nonetheless, once installed, all the worries about the lawn and their watering needs are baseless.

Traveling

Self-propelled is the other term for traveling version of the lawn sprinkler systems. Equipped with wheels, traveling sprinklers follow a garden hose, and the two rotating arms—which are adjustable to meet the diameter requirement of a spray circle—spray water in a circular pattern.
