Use these Lawn sprinklers to Keep your Lawn Thick Green and Healthy

Lawn sprinklers play an instrumental role in keeping the lawn lush, and green. Generally mounted on the ground, a sprinkler sprays water in an upward circular motion.

Some sprinklers are automatic with settings adjustable for scheduling watering sessions. There are also manual which need to be switched to activate.

Grass Sprinkler Types

Because there are many types of sprinklers, it is best to determine which sprinkler is suitable for one’s lawn. The basic type is manual, wherein, the sprinkler is attached to a hose, which in turn is attached to a faucet.

Once the water faucet is switched on, the sprinkler will start emitting water. To cover the entire lawn, it is necessary to move the sprinkler several times.

Also, this kind of sprinkler is low on cost. Most lawn owners do not prefer this type of sprinkler because it lacks efficiency while wasting too much water.

In-Ground Sprinklers

Another type of grass sprinkler are permanently in-ground and come with several heads. They are also permanently mounted on the ground, connected and zoned with each other.

Sprinklers such as this can be automatic and manual. Automatic in-ground sprinklers have a timer which can be set to turn On and Off at specific time and frequency of each day.

A few automatic types can detect if the lawn needs water or when the moisture level is already adequate. On the other hand, a manual lawn sprinkler does not feature similarly. In order to water the lawn, they need to be switched on.

Evenly watering lawn through zones

Setting the zone of the sprinkler is another consideration. Regardless of how efficient lawn sprinklers can be, it is not entirely possible to water every part of the yard at once as the water pressure for a very large lawn almost does not exist.

What these sprinklers have is a network of pipes concealed under the grass horizontally. Short vertical pipes are then connected to each sprinkler head which sprays out water to the lawn.

When a sprinkler is activated, it transmits water to one area of pipe at a time.

In ascertaining the zone layout for one’s lawn sprinkler system, one must ensure that the sprinkling pattern of each head overlaps the others, especially those which are adjacent, lest, the portions closest to the head will have more water than those which are distant.

This tip will help to ensure that despite the strong winds which can alter the direction of water, all areas are rationed with moisture.

Choosing The Best Sprinkler Head

The sprinkler heads themselves are a consideration. Some heads are always positioned leveled on the ground, and a few are above the ground when they pop out to spray water.

Pop-up heads are more efficient in watering taller grasses and landscapes.

Other grass sprinkler have heads that are rotary and some are mist-type. Delivering water evenly especially on golf courses are misting sprinkler heads. Rotary heads are best for larger lawns.

Thus, even a few heads are efficient in covering the almost the entire area.

Even the pattern of delivering the water varies a lot and which is worthy of consideration. Certain heads spray in full circular, while others in half-circle, still a few follow a quarter-circle patter.

There are also lawn sprinklers with heads adjustable to follow a combination of these patterns.
