These Lawn Service Secrets give You a Thick Green Lawn

Lawn service is necessary to strengthen the health of existing lawn grasses or to help the grass get back on the lawn after dormancy in winter.

Depending on the needs of a lawn, services may include lawn fertilization, weed control, insect and disease control, and application of organic composition.

Lawn Fertilizer

Grasses derive their nutritional needs from fertilizers, their basic source of foods. The compositions of fertilizers vary as are the frequency and timing of application.

Some fertilizers are formulated with nutrients only, while others are prepared with weed control or bug control ingredients.

Fertilizers can be applied all throughout the year on a regular basis or can be applied on season-specific. Most are prepared in liquid form, and many are in powder. Newly seeded lawn may require fertilizers different from matured-grass lawn.

Compost is a good source of basic nutritional needs of plants and soil, the Nitrogen, Potassium, and Phosphorous. It is also considered to be organic.

Weed Control

Apart from pest and diseases, weeds are another source of concern among lawn owners. When left uncontrolled, weeds can overpower the entire lawn in a matter of weeks. Controlling weeds, at time, is a regular lawn service.

Weed control can be organic or non-organic. Non-organic methods include chemicals from weed killers and weed control products. Most weed killers are non-selective; some of them contain other ingredients that may help prevent weeds from growing back, and a few are exclusively used on areas where there are other plants growing, for example, near trees or flowers or shrubs.

Organic methods use non-chemical approaches such as applying mulch or straw or salts on weeds. Natural methods are effective as well.

These include proper mowing, deep watering of lawn, and proper feeding of lawn to strengthen their health, thereby, making them thick and unperturbed with the weed’s presence.

Insect and disease control

A lawn service cannot be complete without eradicating and controlling insects and diseases.Pest such as white grubs, thatch, fleas and ticks, whiteflies, chinch bugs, and fungus are the most common creatures found in lawn.

A few of them can be really disastrous like the moles and carry diseases. These pests must be removed or controlled at the very least. Sometimes, pest control can control several kinds of pests. At times, many of them concentrate on killing one or two insects.

Companion planting, an approach to addressing pest problem, is among the favorites of most lawn owners. It is natural, and makes the lawn attractive and fragrant due to the presence of various selected plants.

Application of organic composition. Mulch is used to beautify a landscape, maintain moisture, prevent weeds, and create a groomed landscape. Other organic composition includes peat moss and compost.
