The 2 most popular Lawn Mowers used by Homeowners and Landscapers

lawn mowers are a device with revolving blades and powered by an engine to mow or cut the lawn evenly. Today, two mower types dominate the market.

The Rotary mowers have rotating blades on a vertical axis. Reel mowers or Cylinder mowers have the blades rotate on a horizontal axis.

And because they use an engine to make it functional, a lawn mower requires either a gasoline or electricity.

Mowers are designed differently based on its intended use

Relative to a purpose, mowers are designed differently. Small residential lawns may use the smallest type, pushed by an individual.

Large lawns can be maintained efficiently using a zero turn radius commercial mower, a ride-on mower, similar to an ATV, but with the rotating blades of course.

For larger lawns such as golf courses and municipal parks, the multi-gang grass cutting mowers pulled by a tractor is commonly used.

Today, many manufacturers have their own design of rotary mower. Those who have tried this type of grass cutting mower believe that it can efficaciously cut through long and wet grasses.

Weeds and tough grasses are better mowed by a rotary.

Rotary mowers can be powered by a gasoline or electricity.

Many prefer the gasoline because of convenience and the ability to reach far. An electric-driven mower has a cord attached and which should be plugged in to an electric socket.

Cylinder mowers were the first to be invented in 1827 by Edwin Budding. His mower was constructed for lawns on sports ground and expansive gardens.

Ten years later and the first innovation were experienced—animals could pull the mower. Another sixty years more and the steam-powered lawn awed the public.

In 1859, Thomas Green produced the chain-driven mower. Then 1860s marked the beginning of mower manufacturing.

Today, the cylinder lawn mowers are among the most common type.

Lawn owners can delight on three power sources available: electricity, battery, and gasoline. Of these three, the gasoline-powered mowers are the most ideal as they are cord-free.

Electric-fueled mowers are best suited for smaller lawns as they have cords. Finally, battery-driven cylinder mowers are perfect for very small lawns.

Many homemowers prefer the cylinder type because it conveys the best finish to all types of lawns.

The lawn grasses are cut cleanly without ripping and with stripped appearance. Its drawback, however, is its price. Cylinder lawn mowers can be quite expensive.
