How to prevent plant problems

by Randy
(Watertown, NY.)

It has often been said that prevention is the best medicine. That advice applies whether you’re talking about people or indoor plants.

Preventing a plant disease or other problem is much easier than identifying and treating it once it has show its ugly face. Make no mistake about it; there are many garden pests that can damage your plants if given the chance.

But the truth is it far more likely your indoor plants will die from a lack of proper care than perhaps any other factor. By following the plan explained here, the one I use in my own garden-- you’ll be far more successful in all your gardening efforts. So lets get to it, shall we?

A leading cause of a plants death is improper care. For a plant to survive and thrive it needs enough watering, sunlight, healthy soil, fertilizer and occasional pruning. Different plants require different types of climate and other plant growth needs.
If you ignore a plants preferred growing requirements--it will likely result in the death of your plants.

How to be successful growing plants.

First, determine the location you’d like to place a new plant and then choose only a plant species known thrive in such an area. Most plants bought at a nursery or home improvement center have a label listing a plants growing needs. If you match the needs of the plant with the environment where it is going to be placed, your success rate will increase.

Here’s what I mean. A sun loving plant grown in the shade will not reach its true potential, and may die. So by closely matching the needs of the plant with the environment it’s placed in your success growing all plants increases big-time. Good luck.
