Help.. saggy elephant ear

My grandmother has an elephant ear plant in her backyard that is now sooo big it can't hold itself up. We use to have it tied up with a stick but the plant broke it awhile back. The plant hangs so low it is creeping across the back porch. Cutting it down isn't an option because of the sentimental value. How do I fix this problem before anybody get hurt?
