How do you know if a crown of thorns plant has been killed by freeze
by: Steve

Hello there.

Here is what do to discover if your crown of thorns has been killed by frost.

First, look at is the plant stems. If the plant is still alive they should be bendable yet firm. You can also cut into a stem or trim off some bark, looking for green color inside.

Again looking at stems, if they are flattened, mushy, or brittle the plant may have been lost.
Inspecting the roots will provide more clues.

If they are squishy or brittle it is not a good sign your crown of thorns survived the freeze.

Hope this helps
