Earthworm Castings Are Produced By Worm Farms Using Red Worms

Earthworm castings, the excretions left by earthworms after they gormandized on the organic matter, are rich in nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, manganese, micro-nutrients and other trace elements.

They are also known to contain high concentration of humus and humic acid which prevent the growth of pathogens, fungi, nematodes and bacteria in plants, while providing for binding sites for plant nutrients.

As an organic soil conditioner used by many gardeners and farmers, the earthworm casting is proficient in enhancing the aeration and water retention capacity of the soil.

As an organic soil conditioner used by many gardeners and farmers, the earthworm casting is proficient in enhancing the aeration and water retention capacity of the soil.

Compared to other potting soils, the casting from earthworms makes more favorable and longer lasting soil for potted garden crops, trees, ornamentals, shrubs and flowers.

And unlike other fertilizers, the castings do not pose dangers such as burning the plants and seedlings.

Worm castings are odorless. They make a great plant fertilizer, amazing soil amendment, plant growth enhancer and compost.

Gentle to all plant roots, the castings can be applied even to sensitive plants whether indoor and outdoor without fears of burning them.

One drawback to Worm Castings is its cost; it is normally expensive. That is why most gardeners and farmers produce their own casting through vermin-composting at the comfort of their homes and worm farm.

The worms, which are no ordinary worms found on typical soils, feed on the microorganisms that gorge on the organic wastes. Buy Red Worms if you wish to harvest the best worm casting.

The organic wastes can be from kitchen such as rotten fruits and vegetables, ground coffee and tea along with their bags, papers and boxes.

The yard wastes can also compose the organic wastes including straw, weeds, plant cuttings, grasses, bark tree and more.

The castings from worms are eight times more beneficial than the microorganisms they fed on.

And if there are disease-pathogens present on the organic wastes eaten by the microorganisms, they are usually killed off by the worms during the food processing.

Because the nutrients found in worm casting are water-soluble, it is easy for the plants to absorb such nutrients.

In effect, the plants may only need minimal effort to ingest the essential nutrients from the worm castings. Such feature is not readily available in other chemical-based fertilizers.

  • In using the worm castings on indoor plants, they can be added to potting soil or mixed into the containers of houseplants.

  • In outdoor gardening, the castings can be spread and incorporated into the surface soil levels of the raised beds.

  • They can also be used to fill up the holes on the soil for transplants.
