desert rose with mushy ends

(Paslatka, Fl)

Question: My desert rose got left outside during some really cold weather and now some of the ends have shriveled and some are mushy, some r still green and firm but no leaves, should I just leave it alone or cut the mushy ends off.

Answer: My suggestion to you is wait before you uproot or trim-back the mushy ends.First of all, Winter has not passed and another freeze may hit your area. And that could mean more damage and a larger portion of the plant having to be removed.

It sounds as if your desert rose plant is freeze damaged, not dead. Wait until spring to see if it rebounds with new growth before you do anything. In the meantime cover your plants when you know a freeze is on its way.

Good Luck
