crown of thorns

I have a crown of thorn plant and I cannot figure it out. When I water it, a few days later I may get one or two leaves that turn yellow and fall off. So I am guessing that I am not suppose to water it that much. If I let it dry out the same thing may happen. I have it in a south window (not sure if that is the right window site for this plant) and it seems to do fine and then it seems not to do well, maybe this could be caused by the routine or not so routine of watering. The plant is 2 years old and has never bloomed (I do fertilize it maybe every 3-4 weeks). I am hoping you can tell me what I am doing wrong, how much water it should get, why it has not bloomed?
I am puzzled! thanks
