Can i grow carolina Jasmine to cover a bank.

by Charlotte
(Chattanooga, TN)

Question: I have a steep bank and would like to have something to cascade down the bank so that I would not have to mow or use a line trimmer Would this be a good plant for that?

Answer:The Carolina Jasmine is a vine plant. Its typical method of growth is by attaching itself to something sturdy, then twinning around it and climbing upward or horizontally. To encourage it to grow up your bank it needs something to grab hold of. It sounds like a ground cover plant may be a better choice for your situation. There are dwarf varieties of jasmine that may be just what you are looking for.

Good luck
