Freeze damadge to bannana plant Frost damadges banna plant in Florida

Largo is located in the central Part of Florida. Here banana plants grow abundantly and produce tasty fruit. New banana plants are easily grown by babies formed at its base. The growing climate here is usually perfect for the tropical fruit. Hot, sunny and plenty of rain during Summer. The last two year have been very cold for our area. Freeze temperatures have been reached a number of times. Many native plants go into shock and die, banana plant is one of them. Here are picture of one such plant. Not sure if it will rebound during spring or not. We'll just have to wait and see. The banana fruit shown on the tree is not ripe and cannot be eaten. We may use then in our compost pile.
