Ashawagandha Herb Medicinal Quality

Ashawagandha plant, or Winter Cherry and Indian Ginseng in other countries, is an important component of herbal medicines, especially in Ayurvedic and Chinese traditional medicine.

In Sanskrit word, “Ashawagandha” means horse smell. The plant’s roots exude an odor similar to a sweaty and smelly horse.

As a shrub, it can grow up to 6 feet tall. It bears a red fruit resemblant of a cherry. The flowers it blooms are yellow; and all parts of the shrub can be used in a medicine.

An Ashawagandha herb medicinal quality is prepared with careful observation of instructions from the herbalists themselves. From picking the part of the shrub for medicine preparation to packing, the steps are elaborate.

The medicinal shrub is native to India, specifically, the Madhya Paresh. In this country, the Ashawagandha is used as aphrodisiac.
