I live in upstate NY on lake Ontario. My trumpet plant has thrived for years in a large pot. In October I cut the plant all the way back ( to about 10-16 inches and bring it inside. All the leaves may fall off but don't worry it's Just "hibernating".
In the spring when all chance of frost has passed bring it outside and watch it bloom! This is my third year with the plant and it bloomed five separate times with the last blooming having over seventy blossoms! And it's in a container!
This beautiful plant is my pride and joy! I am certainly not a professional gardener. I just learn by trial and error. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
